Meet Matt
Matt Conroy is a lifelong advocate for putting people first—especially those too often left without a voice. Shaped by personal loss and a deep belief in service, Matt is running for Congress to fight for working families, expand opportunity, and build a more compassionate, inclusive America.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, Matt was just a child when his father was killed during the September 11th attacks. His mother, left to raise four children on her own, taught Matt the values of perseverance, empathy, and responsibility—principles that guide him to this day.
At Xavier High School, Matt embraced the school's call to be “a man for others.” A service trip to Tijuana with Habitat for Humanity opened his eyes to the realities of poverty and deepened his commitment to public service. That mission continued at Northeastern University, where he earned a degree in Economics and gained insight into how policy and opportunity shape everyday lives.
Over the past decade, Matt has built a successful career across industries. He’s lived and worked in Boston, Los Angeles, and now Chicago—experiences that have broadened his understanding of the challenges facing communities across the country.
Matt and his wife, Lily, live in Chicago with their four beloved pets. When he’s not on the campaign trail, you’ll find him on an ice rink, on the baseball field, out exploring the city, or searching for the best bite to eat.
Now, Matt is ready to take the fight to Washington—championing universal healthcare, economic fairness, and a government that works for the people, not just the powerful. He believes real change doesn’t come from the comfortable—it comes from those who’ve lived through struggle and are ready to stand up for what’s right.
